Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled VMWare Infra Engineer with strong hands-on experience in VMware ESXi, Veeam Backup & Recovery, Linux administration, and enterprise infrastructure deployment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with extensive travel and able to support migration activities across multiple data center locations nationwide.

Candidates should reside within reasonable proximity to a major airport, as the role requires frequent travel to customer sites, averaging 2–3 data center visits per week.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Deployment & Configuration

  • Secure and validate VMware ESXi and Veeam server images prior to deployment.
  • Install and configure VMware ESXi on newly deployed swing hardware within designated subnets.
  • Build, configure, and optimize Veeam Backup & Recovery servers operating on Linux platforms.
  • Configure and validate local and remote connectivity between ESXi environments and backup infrastructure.
  • Implement and verify remote access configurations for servers, storage systems, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Perform hardware installation, system validation, and infrastructure readiness assessments.

Migration & Cutover Activities

  • Participate in all phases of the migration lifecycle, including:
    • Pre-Cutover Planning and Validation
    • Outage Window Execution
    • Go-Live Support and Stabilization
  • Execute migration runbooks and infrastructure transition procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve deployment, connectivity, and backup-related issues during critical migration windows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and operational readiness.

Operational Support

  • Validate backup configurations and recovery capabilities.
  • Document deployment procedures, configurations, and migration outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security and operational standards.
  • Provide post-deployment support and issue resolution as needed.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi administration and deployment.
  • Experience building and supporting Veeam Backup & Recovery environments.
  • Linux server administration experience.
  • Knowledge of enterprise server and storage infrastructure.
  • Experience configuring remote management and access solutions.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, connectivity validation, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting data center migration, refresh, or transformation projects.

Professional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.
  • Availability for approximately 2–3 on-site data center visits per week.
  • Ability to support planned outage windows and go-live activities, including after-hours work when required.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware certifications (VCP or equivalent).
  • Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Previous experience supporting large-scale data center consolidation or migration projects.
  • Familiarity with server, storage, and virtualization technologies in enterprise environments.
