Accordingly, Widescope is supporting multi-year modernization initiative to support its mission, and the Sr. Data Engineer will play a vital role in this effort—designing, developing, testing, and monitoring scalable, secure cloud-based applications and services using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The AWS Cloud Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and architectures using AWS services like Redshift, Glue, S3, and Quicksight, while ensuring performance, security, and cost-efficiency. This role requires strong experience in data engineering, cloud technologies, and collaboration across technical and business teams, with preferred skills in DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and observability tools.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
MUST HAVE DATA ENGINEER EXPERIENCE
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and modern data engineering frameworks.
- Build and optimize data warehouse solutions in Snowflake for analytics and reporting workloads.
- Develop ELT/ETL processes leveraging dbt or Snowpark for data transformation and modeling.
- Orchestrate and monitor workflows using Apache Airflow.
- Design and implement logical and physical data models including dimensional modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) and normalized data structures.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects in PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, lineage, and governance throughout the data lifecycle.
- Implement CI/CD practices, code reviews, testing, and deployment automation for data pipelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across the team.
- Support production systems and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or related roles.
- Strong programming experience with Python.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake data warehouse development and administration.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with PostgreSQL.
- Proven experience implementing data transformation frameworks using dbt.and/or Snowpark
- Experience building and managing workflows using Apache Airflow.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including dimensional and normalized models.
- Experience designing scalable ELT/ETL pipelines and data integration solutions.
- Knowledge of data quality, data governance, and metadata management practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices.
- Experience supporting self-service analytics platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Exposure to data lake and medallion architecture concepts.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
