Cloud SDET Engineer

A forward-thinking technology organization is looking for a Cloud QA Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality, scalable applications within a modern cloud environment. This contract role, based in Canada (hybrid model), focuses on test automation and quality engineering across distributed systems, APIs, and user-facing applications.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys building automation from the ground up and working closely with engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile setting. You'll play a key role in shaping how quality is embedded into the development lifecycle, gaining exposure to cloud-native architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and emerging testing strategies. The team is looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to take ownership of testing initiatives while continuing to grow technically.

Contract Duration: 6 Months
Required Skills & Experience

• 3-6+ years of experience in software testing with a strong focus on automation
• Hands-on experience developing automated test suites for UI, API, and integration testing
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript for test scripting and automation frameworks
• Experience working with modern testing tools for browser and cross-platform automation
• Background testing applications hosted in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
• Strong understanding of API validation and microservices-based systems
• Familiarity with source control systems and collaborative development workflows
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based delivery teams

Desired Skills & Experience

• Exposure to containerized environments and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with performance or load testing practices and tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build workflows
• Knowledge of test reporting, monitoring, and quality metrics
• Experience with behavior-driven development frameworks or similar approaches
• Awareness of observability concepts such as logging, metrics, and tracing
• Exposure to event-driven systems or distributed architecture testing
