Job Description
Director of Business Development Location: Leesburg, VA (Hybrid) Summary: We are seeking a mission-oriented Director of Business Development to drive growth across multiple federal agencies. As a senior leader, you will own the capture strategy for large, complex deals, orchestrating resources to win prime contracts. The Director will be responsible for managing and executing Humango’s opportunity pipeline by identifying, qualifying, and prioritizing pursuits that align with strategic goals and maximize win potential. You will serve as an external corporate representative, evangelizing our capabilities to government executives and industry partners while leveraging our HUBZone and WOSB status to secure awards. Qualifications: * 10+ years of GovCon experience with a history of winning multi-year prime contracts.
* Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Marketing, or technical field preferred); Master’s degree or MBA desirable
* Proven track record of winning prime contracts in the $20M–$50M range, with specific examples of successful captures.
* Experience executing and supporting SBA Mentor-Protégé Joint Venture (JV) arrangements preferred
* Experience managing a multi-year pipeline totaling more than $100M+ in submitted proposals per year.
* High level of emotional intelligence and proven executive presence; able to command a room and build trust with senior stakeholders.
* Proven ability to author and review complex proposal content and RFI responses.
* Deep knowledge of standard federal procurement (FAR) and rapid acquisition vehicles (OTAs, SBIRs).
* Expertise in leveraging socioeconomics such as HUBZone and WOSB for sole-source and set-aside advantages.
* Diverse relationships across multiple sectors (DoD, Civilian, IC) rather than a single agency focus.
* Active Secret clearance (TS or TS/SCI eligible preferred).
Responsibilities: * Engage directly with customer decision makers to uncover mission pain points and shape requirements before solicitations are released.
* Lead the development of high-impact content, including white papers, RFI responses, and proposal volumes, ensuring they address specific customer challenges.
* Act as the visible corporate representative at major industry conferences, panels, and association events to elevate brand market presence.
* Interface with and brief senior government and industry acquisition officials to validate solutions and influence acquisition strategies.
* Identify and capture prime contracts ($20M–$50M+) using a full spectrum of acquisition methods (GWAC, IDIQ, OTA, SBIR).
* Develop long-range account plans and strategic roadmaps (3–5 years) to align pipeline with revenue goals and actively identify, qualify and pursue opportunities in alignment with those goals and plans.
* Market our HUBZone and WOSB credentials to Contracting Officers to influence set-aside and sole-source strategies.
* Develop and implement win strategies, including Price-to-Win (PTW) and competitive analysis.
