Contract GenAI/NLP Engineer (AWS Bedrock, RAG, Agentic AI) - £450/day Inside IR35

Please note - this is a hybrid role requiring 1-2 days per week on-site in London. You must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role. Sponsorship is not available.

About the Company

We are working with a leading global technology consultancy delivering an innovative Generative AI engagement for a major UK regulated financial services organisation. The project focuses on applying AI and document intelligence to automate the analysis and extraction of information from complex regulatory and compliance documentation.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-profile AI programme where you'll work with technologies including AWS Bedrock, OpenSearch, LangChain, multi-agent architectures and modern Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.

The Role

As a GenAI/NLP Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering production-grade AI solutions capable of processing large volumes of complex regulatory and compliance documents. You'll be responsible for developing scalable document intelligence pipelines, implementing RAG architectures, and building AI workflows that combine LLMs, vector search, extraction services and validation frameworks.

Working closely with architects, AI specialists, business stakeholders and compliance teams, you'll help deliver robust, governed AI solutions that provide accurate, auditable outcomes within a regulated financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build production-grade GenAI and document intelligence solutions.
• Develop and optimise Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Build document ingestion, extraction and enrichment pipelines for structured and unstructured documents.
• Implement vector search capabilities using Amazon OpenSearch Service.
• Develop prompt engineering, guardrails and evaluation frameworks for LLM applications.
• Design and deliver multi-agent workflows using modern agentic AI frameworks.
• Implement confidence scoring, validation and hallucination detection mechanisms.
• Collaborate with business and compliance stakeholders to ensure solution quality and governance.
• Develop production-quality Python code and support CI/CD deployment processes.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, technical documentation and best practice standards.

About You

You will be an experienced GenAI Engineer, NLP Engineer or AI Consultant with a strong track record of delivering production AI solutions rather than proof-of-concept demonstrations. You'll have experience building document-centric AI applications, implementing RAG architectures and working with enterprise-scale LLM platforms.

You'll enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working in regulated environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative AI solutions that provide measurable business value.

Key Requirements

• Proven experience delivering production GenAI or LLM-based applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with RAG architectures and semantic search solutions.
• Experience with AWS Bedrock or equivalent enterprise LLM platforms.
• Experience implementing vector search using OpenSearch or similar technologies.
• Strong Python development skills and experience building production services.
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, CrewAI or similar frameworks.
• Experience processing and extracting information from PDFs and unstructured documents.
• Knowledge of AI evaluation frameworks, confidence scoring and hallucination mitigation.
• Understanding of security, governance and compliance requirements within regulated environments.
• Experience building scalable cloud-native solutions on AWS.

Desirable Experience

• Financial Services, Banking or Insurance sector experience.
• AML, KYC or Financial Crime domain knowledge.
• Amazon Textract, Comprehend or Kendra experience.
• Agentic AI and multi-agent orchestration experience.
• Experience working within highly regulated environments.
• SC or BPSS clearance, or eligibility to obtain clearance.
