Job Description

Data Center Operations / Hardware Support Engineer

Location: Hillsboro, OR – 100% Onsite
Duration: 1920 Hours
Schedule: Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and after-hours as required
Work Type: Onsite – No Remote Option

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Operations / Hardware Support Engineer to provide hands-on support in a high-volume data center environment. The ideal candidate will have strong server hardware troubleshooting and repair experience, along with Linux, networking, and data center operations skills.

The resource must be comfortable working hands-on inside servers, replacing components, troubleshooting hardware issues, and supporting field service activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day data center operational and hardware support.
  • Perform server hardware troubleshooting, repair, component replacement, and deployment.
  • Escort and coordinate with onsite field engineers and technical teams.
  • Manage parts shipping, receiving, inventory, and logistics.
  • Maintain documentation including serial numbers, rack elevations, runbooks, and asset records.
  • Coordinate with colocation teams for power, cooling, and facility maintenance activities.
  • Execute customer-directed system and software/firmware updates.
  • Monitor servers and proactively identify and report issues.
  • Open, track, and manage service tickets and requests.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software issues, collect logs, and coordinate break/fix activities.
  • Support firmware upgrades and hardware replacement activities.
  • Perform OS installations, GPU configuration, system testing, and validation.
  • Ensure systems are operational and ready for customer use.
  • Respond to urgent issues and serve as an onsite escalation and coordination point.

Required Skills

  • Hands-on server hardware repair and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience replacing server components such as drives, memory, power supplies, fans, NICs, GPUs, etc.
  • Linux CLI experience.
  • Experience reading and analyzing Linux logs.
  • Basic networking experience.
  • Strong ticket management and tracking skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong customer service and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an onsite technical team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced data center environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs.
  • Ability to safely work on a ladder.
  • Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and after-hours when required.

Nice to Have

  • RoCE networking experience.
  • NVIDIA GPU/NIC experience.
  • Data center field service experience.
  • Experience supporting GPU/AI infrastructure.
  • Prior field service experience with enterprise server hardware.
