Job Description
Coho Construction Management is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to join our construction management team supporting projects throughout the Florida, Georgia, and Alabama regions. This position will support construction projects at Tyndall Air Force Base and Naval Support Facility (NSA-PC) in Panama City, Florida, as well as other regional projects. The Superintendent will manage multiple construction projects under large Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) programs and diverse task orders.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing field operations, staff, and subcontractors while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable quality and client requirements. The successful candidate will bring a proactive approach to construction management and infrastructure delivery. Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% is preferred.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Supervise daily on-site construction operations and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Manage contractual and financial aspects of assigned projects while supporting performance and cost reporting throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Oversee field staff and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements, quality standards, and established schedules.
- Ensure site safety practices comply with EM 385-1-1, OSHA 30 Construction Safety, and applicable client requirements.
- Conduct site assessments, support proposal development, and prepare after-action reports.
- Oversee projects from pre-construction through closeout, including sequencing, scheduling, budgeting, and site coordination.
- Read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
- Prepare detailed daily reports, including applicable quality metrics and project documentation.
- Provide pre-construction services, develop project submittals, and participate in design reviews and value-engineering efforts.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, resolve constructability challenges, and develop practical solutions to maintain project timelines and budgets.
- Train and mentor project personnel, including subcontractor superintendents, quality control managers, safety representatives, and administrative staff.
- Maintain warranty tracking and documentation while providing technical expertise in support of current and emerging project opportunities.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with 10–15 years of construction field/trade experience
- A degree in construction or a related field is preferred but not required
- The following certifications/credentials are required or must be obtained within 30 days:
- Valid REAL ID identification
- Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification
- OSHA 30 Construction Safety certification
- EM 385-1-1 certification/training
- Ability to obtain and retain required base access
- Demonstrated Knowledge & Experience:
- Strong understanding of construction quality control, safety requirements, and field supervision practices
- Ability to independently manage work assignments and travel to project sites while meeting established objectives
- Ability to conduct project site visits and inspections as required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Familiarity with RMS and ProjNet systems is preferred
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and coordinate project activities
- Knowledge of U.S. military construction and infrastructure project requirements
- Ability to identify project risks, coordinate site activities, and resolve construction-related challenges
- Travel:
- This position requires the ability to travel independently for project site visits, inspections, and other project-related activities. Approximately 10–15% travel is preferred, with additional travel as required by project needs
- Work Environment:
- The position involves work in active construction environments and requires regular interaction with field personnel, subcontractors, customers, and project stakeholders. The role may require travel to project sites and the ability to work independently in field-based environments
