AWS Cloud Engineer

Cloud Engineer / Charlotte, NC / W2 ONLY / MUST WORK IN HYBRID ENVIRONMENT

About our Customer:

Our direct customer, a global Fortune 500 company & a leader in the Food Services industry is looking for a Cloud Engineer. This role will responsible for technical engineering and automation supporting core functions related to Cloud Operations.

Technology stack centers around AWS, AWS CDK, AWS Cloud Formation, AWS Systems Manager, Scripting (PowerShell/Bash), CI/CD, Azure DevOps.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in cloud operations or similar role and the following qualifications:
• Extensive knowledge of core computing concepts (compute, networking, security, platforms, cloud)
• Experience planning, designing, and implementing large-scale technology rollouts
• Experience writing AWS CDK projects or CloudFormation (desired, but not required)
• Experience working with orchestration toolsets (preferably AWS Systems Manager)
• Experience writing and understanding PowerShell and/or Bash scripting languages
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (preferably Microsoft Azure DevOps)
• Experience leading team(s) in an Agile / Scrum environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise and act as a subject matter expert that can mentor and assist other Cloud Operations team members in cloud, infrastructure, and automation practices.
• Assist the Cloud Operations Product Owner in defining and prioritizing backlog items that guide the Cloud Operations teams to ensure work focuses on maximum value that aligns with the department’s needs and strategy.
• Develop and maintain operational automation scripts written in PowerShell and orchestrated with AWS Systems Manager
• Resource and Cost Management Oversight - ensure that cloud infrastructure is appropriately managed and that monthly cost reviews are performed to validate efficiency of provisioned resources.
• Security and Risk Management Oversight - interface with security team to maintain appropriate security posture, ensure vulnerabilities are appropriately addressed, proper audit logging is available, certificates are appropriately managed, and password rotations are completed efficiently.
• Monitoring and Alerting Oversight - ensure all monitoring and logging solutions (infrastructure, endpoint, and user access) are resilient and appropriately managed.
• Site Reliability Engineering Oversight - promote the use of automation to provision (or reclaim) cloud resources, update/upgrade platforms, and ensure that infrastructure, operating systems, and platforms are current, monitored, and secure.
• Source Code and Deployments Oversight - engage with development teams to ensure pipeline support is provided as needed in accordance with security practices, and that source code is properly managed across solutions.
• Business Continuity Oversight – ensure annual disaster recovery exercises are performed, backup and recovery practices are properly managed, and annual data refresh activities for non-prod environments are performed.
