Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented PDM Administrator / Support Specialist to manage, maintain, and support our Product Data Management (PDM) systems and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software tools. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for our engineering teams, ensuring optimal system performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining an efficient, reliable engineering design environment.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with platforms like SolidWorks PDM or Autodesk Vault, and a passion for supporting cross-functional engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration & Maintenance:

Manage day-to-day operations of PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Autodesk Vault) and CAD software environments.

Support system updates, patches, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities in coordination with IT.

Monitor system performance, server health, and replication logs to identify and resolve bottlenecks.

User Support & Troubleshooting:

Provide timely Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to engineers, designers, and external partners regarding PDM and CAD application issues.

Investigate and resolve file corruption, check-in/check-out conflicts, workflow errors, and licensing issues.

Workflow & Data Integrity:

Assist in maintaining data integrity, folder structures, revision controls, and lifecycle states within the PDM environment.

Help enforce engineering design processes, documentation standards, and CAD best practices.

Collaboration & Vendor Management:

Act as the liaison between internal engineering teams, IT, and external software vendors/VARs to escalate and resolve complex technical software bugs.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for system optimization and process automation.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

Experience: 3+ years of dedicated experience supporting or administering PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM Professional/Standard, Autodesk Vault, or similar PLM/PDM platforms).

CAD Knowledge: Proven track record supporting CAD software tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD) within a professional engineering environment.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

Troubleshooting: Strong technical diagnostic and problem-solving skills related to software installation, client-server connections, and Windows OS environments.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and write clear documentation.

Adaptability: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple ticket queues, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment.

 Preferred Qualifications:

·         Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

·         Official certifications (e.g., Certified SolidWorks PDM Administrator (CPPA), Autodesk Vault Certified Professional).

·         Experience working specifically within an engineering, manufacturing, or product development industry.

·         Familiarity with SQL database management, scripting (e.g., API, PowerShell), or basic network troubleshooting.
