Head of Ecommerce

International Consumer Goods Brand

Hampshire (UK Headquarters)

Hybrid working – 3 days per week in the office / 2 days from home

£80,000 basic + 20% bonus + attractive benefits

Placed by Leon has partnered with an international consumer goods business to appoint a Head of Ecommerce.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is an outstanding opportunity to take ownership of a growing ecommerce function and play a pivotal role in shaping the business's future.

Based at the company’s UK Headquarters, you’ll lead the ecommerce strategy across D2C and marketplace channels while working closely with international stakeholders to help shape the future of the company’s global ecommerce platform.

Ecommerce represents one of the business’s most significant strategic growth opportunities, and they’re looking for a commercially minded leader who can elevate the D2C proposition, accelerate online performance and build a scalable ecommerce function capable of delivering substantial long-term growth.

This is far more than a trading role.

You’ll be expected to think strategically, challenge existing ways of working, identify new commercial opportunities and develop a high-performing team that continues to drive the business forward.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll have full ownership of the e-commerce strategy across the UK business while collaborating with international colleagues on the ongoing development of the global D2C platform.

Leading a team of five, you’ll be responsible for driving growth across Shopify, Amazon and other online channels, continually improving customer experience, commercial performance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the e-commerce strategy across D2C and marketplace channels.
  • Drive sustainable growth across revenue, traffic, conversion, average order value and customer retention.
  • Take ownership of the Shopify platform, continually improving the customer journey and online performance.
  • Develop and expand the Amazon marketplace strategy while identifying further marketplace opportunities.
  • Use analytics and customer insight to identify commercial opportunities and optimise performance.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Product and Supply Chain to deliver successful product launches and digital campaigns.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of five across ecommerce and digital operations.
  • Collaborate with international stakeholders to support the ongoing evolution of the global ecommerce platform.

About You

This opportunity would suit an established Head of Ecommerce looking for a fresh challenge or an ambitious Ecommerce Manager with proven leadership experience who is ready to step into their first Head of Ecommerce position.

You’ll already have a strong track record of delivering sustainable ecommerce growth and understand what it takes to build a commercially successful D2C business.

We’re looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach and genuinely enjoys building businesses rather than simply maintaining them.

You’ll Bring

  • Significant ecommerce leadership experience within consumer goods, retail or a related sector.
  • A demonstrable history of growing D2C revenue and delivering commercial results.
  • Previous experience managing and developing direct reports.
  • Strong experience managing Amazon as a key sales channel (essential).
  • Hands-on experience with Shopify, with exposure to Shopify Plus highly advantageous.
  • Excellent commercial, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
  • The confidence to influence senior leadership and drive meaningful change across the business.

What’s on Offer

  • £80,000 basic salary
  • 20% annual bonus
  • Attractive benefits package
  • Hybrid working (3 days in the Farnborough HQ / 2 days from home)
  • Genuine strategic ownership of a key business function
  • The opportunity to shape and grow one of the company’s most important commercial growth pillars
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and international stakeholders

If you’re looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely influence the future of a growing ecommerce business and build something significant, I’d love to hear from you.
