Duck Creek Senior Developer / Technical Lead (Consultant)

We are seeking a senior Duck Creek consultant to support our migration to Duck Creek vPAD from our current platform version 8.0.4. Our current cadence includes biweekly carrier-layer code merges from the PROD release branch into the vPAD carrier code branch at the end of each development sprint, followed by regression testing in PAD DEV and PERF environments. On alternating biweekly cycles, we also consume Duck Creek vPAD base patches to keep the platform current while we upgrade Data Insights to Clarity in parallel. We expect fully upgraded cutover activities with Duck Creek vendor teams to begin late this year and continue into 2027.

• Duration: 12 month contract to hire
• Allocation: Full-time.
• Staffing: 1 consultant to fill this role.
• Delivery location: Prefer offshore India-based resource (with overlap to our working hours as needed).

Scope of work / responsibilities

• Plan and execute biweekly carrier-layer merges (PROD release branch vPAD carrier code branch) and support post-merge regression testing in PAD DEV and PERF.
• Consume and validate Duck Creek base patches/CRs (monthly for 8.0.4; biweekly for vPAD), including impact assessment and installation planning with BAs, Product Development leads, and QA.
• Partner with QA to triage defects found after carrier merges and after base patch/CR installation; perform root-cause analysis to determine whether fixes belong in the carrier layer versus escalation as a Duck Creek base issue.
• Lead technical working sessions with internal teams and vendor partners to drive timely resolution, document decisions, and align on implementation approach.
• Support parallel platform initiatives, including the Data Insights to Clarity upgrade, and ensure changes remain compatible with the vPAD migration approach.

Required qualifications

• Hands-on Duck Creek implementation experience on v8.0.4 (vPAD experience strongly preferred).
• Experience consuming Duck Creek platform updates (e.g., monthly CRs in 8.0.4 and/or biweekly base patches in vPAD), including impact analysis and coordination with BA/Product/QA partners.
• Strong defect triage and root-cause analysis skills across carrier layer customizations and Duck Creek base behavior.
• Strong Git skills, including branch management and merge strategy to support parallel development streams.
• Ability to lead technical discussions across multiple teams (internal and vendor) and drive issues to resolution.

Preferred qualifications

• Duck Creek vPAD experience, including familiarity with biweekly base patching patterns.
• Experience with Express 2.0 and/or Express 3.0.
• Experience with Duck Creek Data Insights and/or Clarity.
• Experience designing or implementing solutions that reduce or replace Duck Creek CBO usage (e.g., API/service-layer approaches to address technical debt).

Expected deliverables / success criteria

• Repeatable merge-and-test process for the biweekly sprint cadence, including documented branch strategy and runbooks.
• Repeatable base patch/CR intake process (impact assessment checklist, installation plan, and validation steps).
• Defect triage workflow with clear ownership criteria (carrier fix vs. Duck Creek escalation), plus RCA notes for major issues.
• Regular status updates covering risks, decisions needed, and upcoming patch/merge activities.
