Confidential Organisation (the organisation) is a UK-based business operating in a highly competitive market and within a significant P&L environment. The organisation is navigating changing social, legal, economic and regulatory pressures, alongside the emergence of new risk scenarios.

We are looking for a Senior Pricing Manager - Retention to provide actuarial oversight and technical pricing excellence across the Consumer Insurance portfolio. This is a high-profile role offering significant exposure and the opportunity to make a material impact on retention trading performance.

The role is critical to achieving and maintaining the organisation's strategic priorities, while driving profitability and mitigating customer churn. The successful candidate will use expert market insight to develop opportunities, improve pricing practice and challenge established approaches where required.

Senior Pricing Manager - Retention

Purpose of the Role

Provide actuarial oversight and technical pricing excellence across the Consumer Insurance portfolio, supporting the pricing of a significant policy book and contributing to the development and execution of the Retention Pricing Strategy. The role will deputise for the Director of Pricing and Value on retention matters.

The role holder will influence and constructively challenge senior and executive stakeholders, providing oversight of delivery and growth plans and ensuring executional excellence and best-in-class pricing practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and develop the successful delivery of Consumer pricing strategy, development and initiatives across the Division, driving profitability upwards.
  • Lead programme execution where required to deliver initiatives and programmes critical to Division and group commitments.
  • Produce Executive summaries of UK financial regulatory pricing changes, understanding and communicating the impact these may have on the business.
  • Liaise with relevant financial regulators and the Financial Ombudsman Service as required, ensuring pricing complaints are responded to appropriately.
  • Undertake detailed statistical analysis using actuarial modelling techniques to support the Risk Based Pricing element of the Renewal Pricing Strategy and ensure correct implementation.
  • Consider and model the tax implications of pricing changes.
  • Support business decisions by providing accurate and predictive analysis to support business strategy.
  • Investigate and drive forward market-leading pricing capabilities.
  • Develop forecasting models and explain weekly and yearly variances against forecast.
  • Understand UK financial regulatory guidance, including both pricing and non-pricing requirements.
  • Develop action plans to ensure the pricing strategy aligns with the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Lead the Product & Pricing Forum, translating outcomes to inform Executive-level Product & Pricing discussions and acting as an advisory service to non-actuarial business stakeholders.
  • Ensure decisions taken are compliant and adhere to governance sign-off processes.
  • Manage and develop a small team of pricing analysts providing accurate and timely analysis of business trading data to inform strategic thinking and decision-making.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive pricing experience and demonstrable expertise in a relevant field such as Finance, Insurance or Banking.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of pricing and analytical techniques.
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong experience of delivering complex programmes at a senior level.
  • Strong delivery and leadership experience, with exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to build relationships based on credibility and trust with executive, regulatory and group-wide stakeholders.
  • Finance acumen to build, track and deliver business cases.
  • Experience of leading diverse, professional teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with statistical modelling software such as Emblem, R or Python.
  • Experience with optimisation software such as Radar Optimiser or Earnix.
  • Relevant numerate degree or post-graduate qualification.
  • Progress towards a relevant professional qualification, such as an insurance or actuarial qualification, is desirable.
