Job Description

Trainee Project Controller

Location: Hybrid – Bristol

Security: Active SC Clearance or eligibility required


Experis Academy is offering a unique opportunity to train and upskill as a Project Controller, supporting a leading international engineering and defence organisation. This programme is designed for delivery-focused individuals looking to build a long-term career in project controls, with the potential to become a permanent part of high-profile customer teams.

You will receive structured training across project, programme, and portfolio management (P3M), covering key disciplines such as scheduling, cost control, risk and opportunity management, change control, and document management. Training includes both technical and soft skills (e.g. negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management), delivered through practical, scenario-based learning.


Key responsibilities:

  • Manage project budgets, control account plans, and baselines
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules
  • Track risks and opportunities, ensuring mitigation plans are in place
  • Support change management processes in line with contractual requirements
  • Produce weekly/monthly performance reports and analysis


Requirements:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to think from multiple perspectives and work proactively
  • Commitment to learning and professional development
  • Experience in a delivery-focused environment (e.g. engineering, construction, logistics, manufacturing, pharma, education, or similar)
