Job Description

Associate Engineer, Investment Data & Analytics | Boston

We're hiring an Associate Engineer, Investment Data & Analytics to help build technology that enables an investment firm to systematize and scale its understanding of private markets and management of its funds.

This is a highly hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys coding, gravitates toward analytical problems, and wants meaningful ownership over the technology they build. The team operates with a flat, startup-style mentality and works closely with the investment business to solve complex data and analytical problems.

What You'll Do
  • Design and build data products and systems supporting investment, fund, and portfolio workflows.
  • Partner closely with investment, research, and business teams to understand problems and translate them into working technical solutions.
  • Build pipelines, data models, and analytical capabilities across complex financial and economic datasets.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial problem definition through design, development, testing, and production.
  • Improve data quality, reliability, lineage, observability, and automation across the platform.
  • Contribute to architecture and engineering decisions while remaining deeply involved in implementation.
  • Help rethink how data and technology can improve investment processes and operating workflows.

What We're Looking For
  • Strong software or data engineering fundamentals with a genuine interest in building.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience building production data pipelines, models, platforms, or data products.
  • Experience with modern data technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Dagster/Airflow, Spark, or comparable tooling.
  • Strong analytical and independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Someone who wants to understand why something needs to be built, not simply execute a technical requirement.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of ambiguous problems and working directly with the people who will use the solution.
  • Interest or experience across investment management, private markets, financial technology, data science, or similarly analytical environments is attractive.
  • Low ego, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating with significant autonomy.

The Environment

The team operates with a flat, agile, startup-style mentality within an established private markets investment firm. Engineers work closely with investors and other business stakeholders on problems involving investment data, analytics, automation, and the broader investment lifecycle.

This is an environment for engineers who want to build, own meaningful problems, and see the technology they create directly used by the business.

The team is hiring across multiple levels, and more experienced candidates may be considered for senior-level opportunities.
