About the role
The Senior QA Engineer is a key member of the Technology team, responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and scalability of a modern, microservices based platform used across the financial services sector.
This role has a strong focus on test automation and quality engineering, playing a pivotal part in shaping test strategy, improving test coverage and accelerating delivery across the software development lifecycle.
Working within a cross functional Agile delivery squad, you will collaborate closely with Developers, Product Owners and DevOps to embed quality early and ensure solutions are robust, release ready and aligned to business goals.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of automated test frameworks
Build and maintain automated test suites covering API, integration and UI scenarios
Contribute to and support CI/CD pipelines, enabling fast, reliable and repeatable deployments
Define and execute test strategies aligned to Agile delivery and modern engineering practices
Partner closely with Engineering and DevOps teams to improve test effectiveness and coverage
Analyse, log and clearly communicate defects, risks and test outcomes to stakeholders
Perform targeted manual testing for complex, exploratory or high risk scenarios as required
Use SQL to validate data, support end to end testing and assist with troubleshooting
Review requirements, user stories and technical designs to ensure testability early in the lifecycle
Maintain clear, up to date test documentation and release readiness reporting
Actively contribute to improving QA practices, tools and processes across the wider team
About you
Strong experience in software testing of web-based applications.
Have a good understanding or experience with the project lifecycle and deployment of commercial web applications.
Knowledge on UI automation tools like Selenium.
Good experience in API testing using Swagger.
Experience with software tools for planning and tracking the workflow of test cases and new project work.
Previous experience working within an Agile environment.
Must be eager to learn with a technical mindset.
Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills.
Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment, working towards tight deadlines.
Any related testing qualifications would be advantageous.
