Job Description

LAB3 is one of Australasia's largest Azure engineering practices, specialising in Cloud & DevOps, Data, IoT & AI, Modern Workplace, Security, and Networks. We're seeking a Principal Consultant- AIto join our Professional Services team. This is a senior, client-facing leadership role accountable for shaping, selling, and delivering high impact AI and Agentic AI programs for enterprise clients, working across the AI lifecycle from prototyping to production.

The Role
  • Client Leadership & Advisory:Act as a trusted advisor to enterprise clients, lead AI strategy engagements from use case prioritisation and value articulation through to architecture design and delivery roadmaps, running workshops, gathering requirements and translating business objectives into scalable Azure AI architectures and operating models
  • Architectural leadership: Across Agentic AI, GenAI, RAG, MLOps & underlying and data platforms on Azure, defining reference architectures, design patterns and requirements.
  • Delivery Oversight & Risk Management:Ownend to endtechnical accountability & risk-management for large or complex AI programs.
  • Pre-sales: contribute to presales & commercial activities including discovery, solution shaping, SOW input and technical assurance, contributing to win strategy through differentiated architecture, compelling client narratives and proof of concept or demo delivery as required
  • Capability & Practice development: Mentor Senior Engineers and Consultants, contribute to LAB3's AI standards and accelerators, and represent the practice externally through thought leadership and client showcases
  • Governance, Security & Responsible AI: Setbest practiceapproaches for AI governance, risk, compliance, and ethics, ensure solutions align with enterprise security models& champion responsible AI principles

Must be based anywhere in Australia, a citizen, and ideally hold security clearance

  • Azure solution architecture and the broader Azure AI toolkit
  • Deep understanding of modern application architecture
  • Experience delivering Agentic/ GenAI solutions and frameworks
  • Strong grasp of platform engineering, observability and enterprise security and compliance patterns & ideally MLOps.
The ideal extra oomph
  • Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search (vector & hybrid), Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, Copilot Studio, agent frameworks and Model Context Protocol (MCP), including practical knowledge of agent governance and evaluation frameworks, distributed systems, event driven design, API strategies, data platform integration, platform engineering, observability & security.
