Job Title: UX Engineer- Level II

Telecommuting: Negotiable/TBD
Anticipated Duration of the Engagement: 36 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of junior designers
- Working as part of a team of problem solvers, consulting and collaborating with team members and stakeholders to understand business goals, and helping solve complex business issues from strategy to execution
- Designing, developing and implementing both client and internal facing applications and providing technology tools that help drive NYS strategic initiatives
- Using enterprise architecture across application areas to build delivery models that map capabilities to business needs outlined by NYS
- Using multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations
- Addressing defects and enhancements as part of the application support lifecycle
- Participating in incident resolution post implementation as required
- Creating and carrying out user research plans (i.e., surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.), as well as explaining user research results to internal and external stakeholders
- Planning and facilitating design thinking workshops (i.e., journey mapping, user needs modeling, etc.)
- Creating UX deliverables (i.e., developing user models and scenarios, sketches, user stories, user flows, interactive prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps)
- Planning and conducting usability testing, analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to improve the user experience
- Working closely with developers to bring designs to life, assisting with content development, and creating and iterating on prototypes that require coding to improve solutions
- Collecting quantitative and qualitative UX metrics that support usability validation
- Designing for multi-device web, iOS, and Android contexts
- Other duties as assigned
Consultants may be eligible to telecommute for more than 50% of their work hours, up to and including 100% remote work. Telecommuting arrangements require direct manager approval and are subject to change based on program needs. Consultants approved for 100% remote work must attend monthly in-person meetings at the Albany office and be available for major milestone meetings as needed.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Level II- More than seven (7) years of experience working on complex projects with 2 or more years in a leadership role as a UX Engineer
- Seven or more years of experience in UI/UX engineering on full life cycle of design deliverables including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, story boards and user surveys.
- One to two years working in an Integrated Eligibility System Program in various workstreams in a Health and Human Service setting.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Seven or more years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.
- Two to five years of experience with user research, user modeling and usability testing.
- Two to five years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
