SQL Database Developer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer – SQL Database with strong SQL Server development, database design, data migration, ETL, XML, and performance tuning experience.

 

Core Technical Skills

• 10+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including versions 2014 through 2022.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in database design and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visio or similar data modeling tools.
• Experience designing and creating tables, indexes, foreign keys, appropriate data types, default constraints, and other database objects.
• Significant experience with advanced SQL and T-SQL development, including complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions.
• Strong understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concepts.
• Experience designing and building ETL processes; SSIS experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge and technical expertise in data migration, including data extraction, validation, cleansing, and reconciliation.
• Experience designing and creating XML schemas, XML data storage, and XML transformations.
• Strong XML knowledge for legacy data conversion into XML-based structures.
• Experience with database performance tuning, including:
• Query optimization
• Index tuning
• Execution plan analysis
• Database performance troubleshooting
• Experience researching and troubleshooting data inconsistencies and developing scripts to resolve production data issues.
• Experience with Redgate tools for managing database objects and deployments across various environments is preferred.
• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Visual Studio is highly desirable.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of development experience working with SQL Server 2014 through 2022.
• Strong knowledge and experience designing and creating tables, indexes, foreign keys, appropriate data types, and default constraints.
• Advanced SQL/T-SQL development experience, including complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions.
• Experience performing source-to-target field mapping, including data cleansing when required.
• Experience defining and implementing automated and manual data migration processes.
• Experience developing data extractors and loaders.
• Hands-on experience with data management and conversion activities, including:
• Data assessment
• Data cleansing
• Data extraction
• Data migration
• Data reconciliation
• Experience designing and creating XML schemas, XML data storage, and XML transformations.
• Experience with legacy data conversion into XML-based structures.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning techniques.
• Experience managing data conversion and data push processes across multiple environments.
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.
• Experience providing management-level statistics and reports to monitor data migration progress.
• Ability to investigate, analyze, and document reported defects.
• Experience investigating and resolving technical issues within ETL processes.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively with developers and business analysts.
