Operational Instructor
Summary
Under supervision, plans, organizes, develops, coordinates, and evaluates training and development programs for Transmission and Generation Operations (TGO). This role is designed to effectively produce and maintain adequately trained and qualified TGO System Operators who ensure that the electric system is operated in a safe and reliable manner in accordance with NERC, WECC, FERC and any other applicable regulatory requirements. The position involves interaction with all employee levels and various internal and external organizations.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities include:
· Utilizes a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) following the A.D.D.I.E. process to Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate training and development programs for TGO personnel,
· Analyses and leads process with identifying training needs, solutions, targeted audience(s) for TGO, other employees and/or external audiences.
· Designs targeted, specific training courses by determining the appropriate Lesson Plan, Learning Objectives, Training Format (material, media, delivery), Subject Matter Experts, Assessment and Evaluation types.
· Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive training courses to ensure training audience is adequately trained on NERC and WECC Standards, FERC Orders, and all applications and tools necessary to perform their assigned job duties.
· Develops and maintains training materials for presentations,
· Implements and prepares training materials (presentations, student guides, instructor guides, handouts).
· Documents and maintains records of all required compliance evidence documentation.
· Evaluates student course evaluations and documents feedback.
· Addresses and implements identified changes gather from documented feedback
· Prepares, conducts, and evaluates Training Needs Analysis as needed.
· Conducts special studies, reviews, and develops operational procedures and prepares technical reports, as required.
· Participates in regular Transmission and Generation Operations (TGO) meetings as assigned.
Education & Experience
Required:
· Requires completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment and job duties OR
· Equivalent of education from an accredited institution* AND a minimum of three (3) years direct work experience in training System Operators on related job duties.
*College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.
· Active NERC certification OR
· Previously NERC certified or Non-NERC Certified (and willing to obtain certification within six months of hire date)
