Network Security Engineer
Location: Sydney, NSW

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise, data center, and cloud network infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on expertise across leading networking and security platforms - including Arista, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and F5 - along with strong routing protocol knowledge (BGP, OSPF) and experience securing and scaling networks across on-premises, data centre, and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise and data centre network infrastructure using Arista, Cisco, and Juniper platforms.
  • Deploy and manage security appliances including Palo Alto and Cisco firewalls, and F5 load balancers (LTM/GTM).
  • Configure and troubleshoot BGP and OSPF routing across enterprise and data centre environments.
  • Perform firewall policy reviews, rule implementation, and security change management.
  • Support network connectivity and security integration for cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Diagnose and resolve complex routing, switching, firewall, and load balancer issues.
  • Support enterprise infrastructure projects, including data centre builds and workload migrations.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable network services.
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in on-call/escalation support for critical network and security incidents.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Network Security or Network Engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Arista, Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto platforms.
  • Solid experience with F5 load balancers and other security appliances (firewalls, proxies).
  • Strong working knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
  • Proven experience across enterprise networks, data centre (DC) networks, and cloud networking environments.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, NAT, VPNs, and core network security fundamentals.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and analytical skills.
  • Exposure to enterprise infrastructure, data centre builds, or cloud workload migration projects.
Preferred
  • Relevant vendor certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, PCNSE, F5 CTS).
  • Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
