Job Description

Job Title: Controls Engineer – SCADA
Location: Warren, MI – Onsite
Position Type: Contract
Duration: 6+ Months, with potential for extension
Work Schedule: Typically, 40 hours/week

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with strong expertise in Rockwell PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with GM standards (GCCS or FACS), Ignition SCADA, and Beckhoff EtherCAT.

This role will focus on migrating existing automation systems, developing and implementing automation standards, and supporting controls engineering activities using Soft Automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, troubleshoot, and support Rockwell PLC control systems.
  • Work with and implement GM standards, including GCCS or FACS.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain SCADA systems, preferably Ignition.
  • Work with Beckhoff EtherCAT technology and related industrial automation systems.
  • Support migration of existing controls and automation systems to updated standards.
  • Develop and implement controls and automation standards using Soft Automation.
  • Troubleshoot controls, PLC, SCADA, and industrial communication issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure successful implementation of automation solutions.
  • Support onsite commissioning, testing, and system integration activities.
  • Ensure automation systems meet project requirements, standards, and operational objectives.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with Rockwell PLCs.
  • Experience with GM standards – GCCS or FACS.
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA systems.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA preferred.
  • Experience with Beckhoff EtherCAT.
  • Experience in industrial controls and automation engineering.
  • Experience with automation migration and standards development.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an onsite manufacturing/industrial environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Soft Automation.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Previous experience supporting General Motors (GM) projects or facilities.
  • Experience with controls system commissioning and integration.
