Job Description
The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) provides expert-level Cybersecurity engineering, security architecture development, and risk management support for complex systems and networks. Serving as the primary security engineering authority on multidisciplinary teams, this role ensures system designs, implementations, and integrations meet rigorous Government security requirements and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the lead security engineering representative on technical teams supporting the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and integration of secure networking, computing, and multi-enclave environments.
• Apply expert knowledge of Cybersecurity policies, procedures, and workforce structures to develop and implement secure system and network solutions.
• Collaborate closely with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams to gather requirements, resolve security issues, and ensure alignment with mission objectives.
• Lead the design, development, assessment, and integration of Cybersecurity architectures, system components, and trusted relationships among interconnected systems.
• Support Government enforcement of secure design principles across external systems and shared architectures.
• Conduct and support security planning, security assessments, risk analyses, and ongoing risk management activities.
• Identify comprehensive security requirements for the proper handling, processing, and protection of Government data.
• Develop system or network security designs spanning multiple enclaves with differing classification or data protection requirements.
• Recommend system-level solutions to meet identified security requirements and strengthen enterprise security posture. Requirements
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held)
• IASAE III certification (CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, CCSP)
• Twenty (20) years of experience as an ISSE supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• At least five (5) years of recent experience (within the last five years) applying Cybersecurity principles and technologies such as access control, authentication/authorization, PKI, and enterprise security architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
– A Master’s degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience (reducing total required experience to eighteen (18) years).
– In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, four (4) additional years of ISSE experience may be substituted (totaling twenty‑four (24) years).
