Our client is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer in Glendale, CA

Role Description

The QA Engineer is accountable for delivering reliable releases across platforms by designing and implementing an automation-first test strategy, building scalable test coverage, and driving data-informed quality improvements. This requires a proven track record validating complex Oracle EBS R12 solutions.
This role partners closely with engineering, product, and business teams to shift quality left (requirements/testability reviews, automation in CI/CD, and quality gates), reduce escaped defects, and ensure releases are stable and repeatable across environments.

Quality Strategy & Ownership
Own end-to-end quality for assigned platforms with an automation-first mindset (prioritizing repeatable, maintainable automated coverage).
Define and maintain automation standards (framework patterns, coding practices, test data strategy and reliability management).
Drive risk-based coverage decisions across UI, API, integration, and data validation to target the highest-impact business flows.
Establish clear quality gates and reporting (automated pass/fail signals, coverage, defect trends) tied to requirements and release readiness.
Partner with vendors and internal teams to ensure automation is part of delivery (test hooks, observability, and testable designs).
Continuously improve speed and reliability of the test.
Test Planning, Estimation & Prioritization
Review requirements and designs to identify gaps, ambiguity, and testability issues; define automation approach early.
Create test scope and estimates per initiative, including what will be automated (UI/API/data) and environment needs.
Prioritize automation backlog based on risk, change impact, production incidents, and opportunities to replace repetitive manual regression.
Test Execution & Automation
Design, build, and maintain automated test suites (UI/API/integration) covering key Oracle EBS business processes and custom integrations.
Create resilient test data and environment strategies (data seeding, masking, and repeatable setup/teardown) to enable reliable automation.
Embed automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and establish quality gates that provide fast feedback to engineering.
Expand coverage using maintainable frameworks (page objects/service clients, reusable utilities) and improve observability (logs, screenshots, traces) for debuggability.
Automate non-functional checks where feasible (performance smoke, security scanning hooks, accessibility checks) in partnership with specialists.
Defect Management & Release Readiness
Support UAT with clear entry/exit criteria and test evidence, while driving as much regression coverage as possible through automation.
Triage, reproduce, and document defects with clear severity/priority; include logs, test evidence, and steps to reproduce to speed resolution.
Perform root-cause analysis on escaped defects and test failures (including flaky automation); implement permanent fixes in coverage and tooling.
Provide release quality status using automation signals (pipeline health, regression pass rate, and known risk) to support go/no-go decisions.
Documentation & QA Enablement
Maintain QA documentation and standards (test templates, best practices, environment checklists) to enable consistent execution.
Coordinate UAT with business stakeholders, including test walkthroughs, defect triage sessions, and readiness communications.
Promote quality mindset across teams through coaching, retrospectives, and measurable improvements in release stability.

Skills & Requirements

5+ years in QA, test engineering, or software quality roles supporting applications.
Strong experience testing ERP systems; Oracle EBS R12 preferred.
Functional knowledge across multiple business processes, such as Procure to Pay (P2P), Order to Cash (OTC), Project Accounting, Inventory, WIP, or BOM.
Ability to analyze data using query tools (e.g., SQL) to validate outcomes, troubleshoot issues, and support root cause analysis.
Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language used for automation (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript) and version control (Git).
Strong knowledge of QA automation practices, including test design patterns, maintainability, and reliable execution at scale.
Hands-on experience with test automation tools and CI/CD (e.g., integrating automated tests into build/release pipelines).
Ability to document test strategy, coverage, and results clearly, including traceability to requirements and business workflows.
Ability to manage multiple test efforts simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a dynamic release environment.
High sense of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset.
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience in the media industry a plus.
