Job Description

Front End Engineer - 1 year | Leeds (2 Days per week)

We're recruiting for a Front End Engineer to join the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) Lab for a leading banking and financial services organisation, building Front End applications within the React framework as part of shaping and delivering an internal developer platform ecosystem. Live service support is a top priority in this environment, so the role combines hands-on development with ongoing incident resolution and long-term problem fixing.

Key Responsibilities:

Own, lead, and drive an aspect or feature of the internal developer portal via the Jira Align framework
Contribute to the lab and platform roadmap to develop integrated solutions
Contribute to the design and build of the Internal Developer Platform ecosystem, building Front End applications in React (JavaScript or TypeScript)
Be hands-on and contribute code regularly, leading by example
Prototype and develop reusable components, write automated test scripts, perform code reviews, and create technical documentation
Lead technical conversations with collaborators of varying technical backgrounds, including senior management and SMEs
Collaborate across internal, external, and third-party teams
Contribute to continuous improvement of shared code libraries and collaborate with other technology teams
Provide leadership, education, and mentoring to junior colleagues, driving upskilling
Maintain a high focus on live support, building supportability into the application as part of day-to-day work

What You Will Ideally Bring:

Extensive experience writing Front End applications in React (JavaScript or TypeScript)
JavaScript/TypeScript, React JS, Node JS
Jest unit testing and automated functional testing (Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
Experience building and deploying applications to cloud platforms (Azure and GCP)
Git/GitHub experience
Applied familiarity with industry tools: Node.js, Git/GitHub, Jest/React Testing Library
Terraform/Infrastructure as Code and Kubernetes experience (desirable)

Contract Details:

Duration: 12 months
Rate: £400/day - Inside IR35
Location: Leeds (Hybrid - 2 days on-site)
Start Date: ASAP
