Job Description

Senior Electronics Engineer

Location: Dorset (primarily onsite, with some hybrid working)

We seek an engineer with recent high-integrity or safety-critical industry experience (defence, aerospace, or similar), or eligible for UK security clearance.

We're supporting TKMS ATLAS UK in the search for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join their engineering team, developing advanced electronics and sub-systems for cutting-edge maritime defence programmes.

This is an opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, taking designs from initial concept and requirements capture through detailed design, verification, manufacture and customer acceptance.

What you'll be doing
  • Designing analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronic circuits and sub-systems.
  • Producing schematics, PCB layouts and supporting design documentation using industry-standard CAD tools (Altium experience advantageous).
  • Translating customer requirements into practical electronics designs and system architectures.
  • Developing verification plans, test procedures and supporting product validation.
  • Ensuring designs meet EMC, electrical safety, CE marking and applicable defence standards.
  • Supporting prototype development, production, installation, customer trials and system commissioning.
  • Investigating technical issues and implementing design improvements.
  • Working closely with project teams, customers, suppliers and manufacturing to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement within the engineering team.
We're looking for experience in
  • Electronic circuit design (analogue, digital and mixed-signal).
  • PCB design and schematic capture (Altium preferred).
  • Microcontrollers, microprocessors and associated interfaces (FPGA, RF or low-noise analogue experience is advantageous).
  • Verification, testing and technical documentation.
  • Design for EMC, electrical safety and compliance.
  • Working through the full electronics development lifecycle within a structured engineering environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging defence programmes, contributing to innovative systems from concept through to delivery while collaborating with experienced multidisciplinary engineering teams.
