Data Architect - Fabric / Azure

Position: Fabric / Azure – Data Architect
Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities
Define and drive the overall data architecture for the Microsoft Fabric and Azure-based data platform.
Design scalable, secure, and reusable data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics frameworks.
Establish architecture standards, best practices, and design patterns across data engineering initiatives.
Work closely with Data Engineers, Business Analysts, Data Stewards, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
Design and review data models, semantic models, lakehouse architectures, and data integration patterns.
Provide technical leadership for ETL/ELT pipelines, Spark workloads, and Fabric implementation.
Guide performance optimization, scalability, security, governance, and operational readiness of the platform.
Support CI/CD, environment strategy, release management, and deployment best practices.
Mentor development teams and conduct architecture and code reviews.
Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, documentation, and governance requirements.
Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have
10+ years of experience in Data & Analytics with at least 4+ years in a Data Architect role.
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
OR strong expertise in Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, Delta Lake, and modern Azure data services.
Deep understanding of:
Data Architecture
Data Modeling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical)
Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architectures
ETL/ELT design patterns
Data Integration and Data Governance
Experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms using SQL, Spark, Python, and Azure services.
Strong understanding of semantic models, reporting architectures, and Power BI integration.
Proven experience defining reusable frameworks, standards, and architecture roadmaps.
Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and cloud-native architectures.
Strong stakeholder management and solution design skills.
Experience in Financial Services / Asset Management / Capital Markets.
Nice-to-Have

Microsoft Fabric or Azure certifications.
Familiarity with Data Governance, Data Lineage, and Data Quality frameworks.
Experience building configurable and reusable data platform frameworks.
