GCP Solution Architect

Location: Edinburgh<br />Salary: £80,000 - £100,000<br />Job Type: Permanent The Role We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect - API &amp; GCP to join a growing technology team in Edinburgh.

You will play a key role in shaping the architecture and strategic evolution of an API Marketplace platform, working closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders.

This is a great opportunity for an architect with strong API, cloud-native and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience to have a genuine influence on enterprise technology direction.

Key Responsibilities Own and drive architectural decisions across the API Marketplace platform.<br />Define the strategic technology roadmap alongside product and engineering teams.<br />Design scalable, secure and resilient cloud-native solutions using Google Cloud Platform.<br />Lead API architecture and promote best practices around API design, security, lifecycle management and integration.<br />Provide technical leadership across architecture forums, governance and design reviews.<br />Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technology solutions.<br />Assess emerging technologies, including Generative AI, where they can add value.<br />Ensure solutions meet key non-functional requirements including security, performance, resilience, scalability and sustainability.<br />Influence strategic technology decisions and help shape the future direction of the platform.

Essential Skills &amp; Experience Strong experience working as a Solution Architect within API-first, digital platform, marketplace or multi-tenant environments.<br />Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).<br />Experience with GCP technologies such as GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage and Apigee.<br />Strong understanding of RESTful API design, API security, versioning, lifecycle management and API gateways.<br />Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee, Kong, IBM API Connect or Azure API Management.<br />Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, event-driven architecture and domain-driven design.<br />Understanding of hybrid cloud, CI/CD, cybersecurity, resilience and sustainability principles.<br />Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.<br />Proven ability to influence architectural strategy and make complex technical recommendations
