What are we looking for?

The Software Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, testing and delivery of high-quality applications and platforms supporting a major technology transformation. The role focuses on building and modernising platforms, engineering practices and delivery models to improve scalability, resilience and business agility.

• Design and build cloud-first, scalable and resilient applications using modern engineering practices.
• Develop solutions primarily in Node.js with strong software engineering fundamentals and SOLID principles.
• Champion serverless and event-driven architectures, using containers where appropriate.
• Build distributed systems using messaging, queues, topics and asynchronous patterns.
• Deliver reliable, secure and cost-effective cloud solutions with strong operational focus.
• Apply expertise across cloud technologies including compute, networking, security, identity and observability.
• Design and optimise NoSQL data models for scalability, resilience and performance.
• Make practical technology decisions based on business outcomes and operational suitability.
• Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver clear outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, technical excellence and engineering best practices across teams.
  

What will you bring?

• Strong experience building and supporting scalable, distributed cloud applications.
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture, including security, networking, resilience and observability.
• Hands-on experience with serverless and event-driven architectures.
• Strong programming skills, ideally in Node.js.
• Experience designing and optimising NoSQL databases and data models.
• Strong knowledge of Agile delivery and modern DevSecOps practices.
• Experience with Azure, Cosmos DB and highly available, fault-tolerant systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to influence engineering best practices and mentor other engineers.
• Azure certifications and React.js experience highly regarded.

To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with full and unrestricted working rights in Australia. Proof of work rights will be required as part of the Slater and Gordon application process.
