Network Engineer - Senior with Security Clearance

Job Description Everforth ECS is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to work onsite in the Naval offices in Norfolk, VA. This Senior Network Engineer position plays a critical role in supporting large-scale Department of if the Navy network modernization initiatives focused on transforming legacy infrastructure into secure, scalable, and cloud-ready network architectures. This role supports classified and sensitive network infrastructure, including routing, switching, firewalls, encryption devices, network monitoring, connectivity, address management, traffic routing, lab validation, and operational sustainment. This position requires collaboration with US Navy and Department of War stakeholders, systems integrators, and cross-functional technical teams to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network solutions that meet strict federal security requirements and compliance standards. The successful candidate will contribute to the migration of mission-critical systems while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing Naval operations and maintaining the highest levels of cybersecurity and data protection. Note: To be considered candidates must possess a current and active Secret-level Security Clearance granted by the DoD / Department of War. * Planning: Conducts short and long-term planning to meet network requirements * Network System Design and Implementation: Designs and implements network systems * Strong working familiarity with F5 Networks, Juniper JUNOS and/or Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls * Network Connectivity: Provides support for network connectivity or related network issues for the user community * Network Installation: Plans and monitors the installation of network systems * Network Monitoring: Analyzes network activity and network problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Recommends network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance * Issue Resolution: Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves network problems. Researches, analyzes and recommends the implementation of software or hardware changes to rectify any network deficiencies or to enhance network performance * Capacity Planning: Analyzes facilities bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies. Develops capacity planning models * Disaster Recovery: Ensures planned testing activities are performed and technical criteria are met * Network Performance Assessment: Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides network planning recommendations to management * Vendor Management: Evaluates services provided by vendors and recommends changes * Knowledge of Enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Splunk, Solarwinds, Wireshark, Websense, MRTG and NMAP * Knowledge of commercial enterprise-level tools and products to provide network services, including: firewalls, IPS/IDS, DNS, DHCP, web security, VPN, and NAC * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SAWS staff and the general public * Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills * Great people and communication skills are a must * Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000 Required Skills * 8+ years minimum network engineering experience * 4+ years experience with technical work in a DOD environment * 4+ years experience in an enterprise network environment with both administration and problem resolution of F5, Juniper and/or Cisco solutions required * Knowledge of ITIL processes and experience adhering to them in a production environment * Knowledge of DoD standards and compliance (ie STIGs, ACAS report output) * Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), F5 Certified Administrator -Security+ certification per DoD 8570 policy compliance Desired Skills * Knowledge of Cisco SRND/SAFE and industry best practices * Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Redhat Ansible * Familiarity with network, server, storage virtualization, i.e. MDS switching infrastructure, VSAN, VRF, VPN, and VMWare vSphere * Experience with Juniper products to include: M/MX-series, EX, and SRX * Experience with Cisco enterprise grade products to include: Nexus/Catalyst 9000 series switches. Catalyst 8500 Edge Routers, ISE, Firepower NGFW, ASA, FMC, Catalyst Center, TACACS+, and Radius * Advanced knowledge of IOS, JUNOS, NX-OS, MPLS, BGP, GRE, IPSec VPN, and OSPF.
