This role involves close collaboration with the data modernization teams at ITD and DPH to design, implement, and manage AWS solutions that align with their technical requirements and business objectives. DHHS-ITD is seeking an AWS/Java/ETL developer specializing in Data modernization using cloud solutions on AWS.

Skill Sets and Experience:

8-10 years of software development experience.
Experience in modernizing legacy applications, which should include refactoring/migrating in-house legacy applications to the cloud environment (5 years required).
Proficient in utilizing various AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue Crawlers, Athena) and related components towards building enterprise level Data Lakes (5 years required).
Experience in software development with hands-on skills in Java - strong Java, J2EE, Java Spring framework & hibernate technology (7 years required).
Experience working with any transactional or RDMS databases. Knowledge of modern database technologies and strategies for migrating and modernizing database systems (5 years required).
Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools (5 years required).
SQL - Writing Complex Queries, understanding Database Relationships, debugging and performance tuning.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based ETL tools. Experience working with creating AWS ETL jobs, data pipelines with high volumes of data (3 years required).
Understanding data modeling.
Knowledge/experience using any ETL tools, experience with data analytics using PowerBI or AWS QuickSight etc. is a plus (2 years nice to have).
Must have experience/familiar with Agile/Scrum Framework environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and stakeholders (7 years required).
AWS Certification (Nice to have).
State Government experience (Nice to have).

Job Responsibilities:

Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective modernization strategies.
Design, develop and test Java-based, cloud-native applications and backend systems.
Designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines.
Analyzing data models and business requirements.
Data Validation: Query the database to verify that data is correctly inserted, updated, and deleted by the application, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Design, Create and Execute Test Cases.
Back-end Testing: Validating back-end logic and data processing that might not be immediately visible through the user interface.
Collaboration: Working closely with developers and business analysts to understand data requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
Utilize AWS services within application architecture.
Develop, test, debug and deliver within timeline using best tools and best practices available.
Participate in code reviews, ensure security best practices, and maintain clean, efficient code.
Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability.
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges.
Ensures adherence to standards and best practices.
Work with product manager, business stakeholders, and other team members to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
