IT Software Engineer - Peoria, IL (Hybrid – Local Candidates Only)

We are seeking an experienced IT Software Engineer 4 with strong expertise in Java development, AWS cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining complex enterprise applications in a cloud environment.

The candidate will work as part of an Agile/Scrum team, developing scalable software solutions, integrating cloud services, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and supporting application modernization initiatives. Experience leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) in software development is required.

Candidates must be local to Peoria, IL, or the surrounding area and available to work in a hybrid environment.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience.

Alternatively, a master's degree in Computer Science or a related field with at least 6 years of relevant software development experience.

8+ years of software development experience, including Java application development, or 6+ years of Java development experience with a relevant master's degree.

Required Technical Skills

Java & Software Development

Strong hands-on experience designing and developing enterprise software applications using Java.

Expertise in software design, programming, debugging, integration, and testing.

Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals.

Experience developing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance applications.

Experience with software architecture patterns, including MVC, microservices, and event-driven architecture.

AWS Cloud Technologies

At least 3 years of hands-on AWS development experience.

Experience with AWS CloudFormation templates.

Experience deploying and managing ECS clusters and AWS Fargate.

Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, and Amazon Elasticsearch.

Strong understanding of AWS IAM roles, policies, and security best practices.

Experience deploying and maintaining applications in public cloud environments.

Generative AI

Experience using Generative AI tools and technologies for software development.

Ability to leverage AI-assisted development approaches to improve developer productivity and software quality.

Databases & Data Processing

Experience developing applications using relational and NoSQL databases.

Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, and Elasticsearch.

Experience with batch or stream processing technologies, including AWS SQS, SNS, and Kinesis.

DevOps & CI/CD

Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Azure DevOps.

Knowledge of automated build, deployment, and release processes.

Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

API Development & Testing

Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.

Familiarity with Swagger, Postman, and API testing tools.

Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).

Experience with Selenium and Cucumber and their integration into CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain complex software applications.

Develop and deploy scalable applications using Java and AWS cloud technologies.

Build and maintain cloud infrastructure and services using AWS.

Develop and integrate software modules based on business and technical requirements.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
