Proposals Engineer

Proposals Engineer Reading (hybrid working) Up to 60k + car allowance

Responsibilities:

Represent the culture and values of the business internally and externally.<br />Collaborate with customers to understand automation and control requirements across industries such as Utilities, Food and Beverage, FMCG, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Process, Manufacturing.<br />Attend and complete detailed site surveys to ensure proposal accuracy<br />Review technical scoping information inclusive of various engineering documentation to generate a robust solution<br />Design and propose control system architectures using PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and industrial networking technologies.<br />Prepare detailed technical proposals, cost estimates, and scope-of-work documents.<br />Deliver product and system presentations to clients, including live demos and site visits.<br />Work closely with engineering and project management teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and aligned with delivery capabilities.<br />Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automation technologies, industry standards, and vendor products (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric).<br />Attend trade shows, industry events, and client meetings to promote solutions and gather market intelligence.<br />Help maintain customer CRM with latest opportunities and sales pipeline / forecasting Experience: Have previously worked in the Systems Integration industry<br />Have worked in one or more of the following industries: Utilities, Food and Beverage, FMCG, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Process, Manufacturing.<br />Be a high calibre, ambitious self-starter<br />Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate empathetically with emotional intelligence.<br />Have attention to detail as well as a systematic and structured approach to working.<br />Be adaptable to a range of environments and eager to learn on a constant basis.<br />Be able to meet tight deadlines consistently and with accuracy/quality.<br />Understand an automation project lifecycle from concept through to completion.<br />Be fluent in written and spoken English.<br />Have a full UK driving license or be legally authorised to drive within the UK<br />Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.<br />3+ years of experience in control systems integration, automation engineering, or technical sales.<br />Strong understanding of industrial automation platforms (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems).<br />Familiarity with control panel design, instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).<br />Excellent communication and presentation skills.<br />Proficiency in using vendor software tools to help create proposals<br />Willingness to travel to customer sites and industrial facilities regularly (surveys, proposal meetings, etc).<br />Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Project)
