Job Description

Position:  AEM UI / Design System Lead
Location: Plainsboro, NJ

We are looking for an experienced AEM UI / Design System Lead to manage and govern the implementation of branded design systems within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). This is a hands-on role working closely with design, content authoring, product, and development teams to ensure AEM templates and components accurately align with approved Figma designs and reusable components maintained through Storybook.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and govern AEM templates, components, and styling to align with Figma branded design systems.
  • Review Figma designs and determine how existing AEM templates and components can be configured and reused.
  • Maintain alignment between Figma design systems, Storybook component libraries, and AEM implementations.
  • Support Storybook integration and component documentation to enable consistent development, testing, reuse, and governance of frontend components.
  • Identify design and implementation gaps between Figma, Storybook, and AEM and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Govern and implement additional CSS required to ensure AEM templates and components match approved designs.
  • Work closely with the content authoring team to resolve template, component, layout, and styling gaps.
  • Maintain consistency and reuse across AEM templates and components while minimizing unnecessary custom development.
  • Support grooming and technical definition for occasional custom component development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Partner with AEM developers and architects to ensure frontend implementation follows established design system, accessibility, responsive design, and development standards.

Key Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AEM Sites, templates, components, and authoring capabilities.
  • Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills.
  • Experience translating Figma design systems into enterprise web and CMS implementations.
  • Hands-on experience with Storybook for component development, documentation, visualization, and governance.
  • Experience maintaining alignment across Figma, Storybook, and production component libraries.
  • Experience with enterprise design systems, reusable components, and component governance.
  • Strong understanding of responsive web design and WCAG accessibility.
  • Ability to identify when requirements can be addressed through existing AEM capabilities versus additional styling or custom component development.
  • Experience working closely with designers, content authors, product teams, and AEM development teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear implementation guidance and governance.

The ideal candidate combines strong AEM frontend expertise, design system knowledge, Storybook experience, and hands-on implementation capabilities and can effectively bridge Figma designs, reusable frontend components, AEM authoring, and development.
