Job Description

About the role

Great products are built by great processes.

As Process Engineer - Solar Arrays (f/m/d), you will help mature and scale the manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test processes behind Dcubed's Solar Array products. Working closely with Engineering, Production, AIT, and Product Assurance, you will transform existing know-how into robust, repeatable, and scalable processes that support growth without compromising quality or agility.

You will document and improve production workflows, implement quality gates, eliminate bottlenecks, and drive operational excellence across the organization. As Dcubed expands its manufacturing capabilities, you will play a key role in enabling the replication and continuous evolution of our production system.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving practical challenges, improving how teams work, and making a measurable impact on the efficiency, quality, and scalability of hardware that powers ambitious space missions.

Responsibilities

Process Development & Industrialization

  • Document, review, and continuously improve manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test processes for Solar Array products.

  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process flows, manufacturing procedures, and production documentation.

  • Lead the transition of new products from development into repeatable and scalable manufacturing.

Quality & Process Control

  • Work closely with Product Assurance to define and implement quality gates, inspection points, and process controls.

  • Ensure manufacturing processes support compliance, traceability, and product quality requirements.

  • Support root-cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions for process-related issues.

Operational Excellence & Production Scaling

  • Analyze production workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to increase productivity, quality, and throughput.

  • Define, monitor, and improve production KPIs and operational performance metrics.

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support the duplication and adaptation of manufacturing processes for future production facilities.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, AIT, Product Assurance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure processes are practical, efficient, and scalable.

  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) activities during product development.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in Process Engineering, Industrialization, Manufacturing Engineering, or Production Engineering.

  • Experience introducing new products into manufacturing or scaling production operations.

  • Experience working in aerospace, space, automotive, robotics, electronics, or other high-tech manufacturing environments.

  • Eligibility to work in Germany

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of quality systems, process controls, and inspection methods.

  • Familiarity with production tooling, fixtures, automation, and manufacturing equipment.

  • CAD proficiency and ability to work with engineering drawings and technical documentation.

  • Strong digital mindset with the ability to leverage AI and automation tools to streamline workflows and improve operational performance.

Personal Attributes

  • Hands-on mentality with a passion for improving how hardware is built.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to balance attention to detail with pragmatism and execution speed.

  • Comfortable working across Engineering, Production, Quality, and Operations teams.
