McArthur is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Systems Specialist to support our Local Government client on a temporary, full-time basis until 20 November 2026. This role will bridge expert payroll knowledge with the configuration and delivery of a new ERP solution. The successful candidate will help ensure the client's payroll processes, compliance obligations and business rules are accurately reflected in the new module.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Solution Design & Configuration - Lead payroll solution design and configuration, ensuring alignment with program requirements, legislation and awards, while collaborating with key stakeholders and vendors.
  • Requirements & Stakeholder Input - Provide payroll expertise to validate requirements against business processes, awards and compliance frameworks, identifying and escalating gaps, risks and issues.
  • Testing & QA - Lead payroll SIT, UAT and business verification testing, validating results, resolving defects and confirming readiness for go-live.
  • Data Migration & Reporting - Support payroll data mapping, validation and migration, while assisting with MVP reporting requirements and testing.
  • Change Management & Training - Support payroll training, communications and user readiness, ensuring a smooth transition to BAU, including appropriate access and security controls.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and compliance within TechOne, providing recommendations and lessons learned to support ongoing enhancements.
Key Criteria:
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and optimizing Payroll and HRIS systems
  • Deep knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance frameworks
  • expertise in end-to-end payroll processing, including pay run management, leave accruals, termination calculations, and payroll tax obligations.
  • Proficiency in configuring and operating the TechOne platform, with specific experience in the Payroll and/or HR modules highly desirable.
  • Understanding of ERP implementation methodologies, testing methodologies, data migration, mapping and reconciliation.
  • Understanding of change management principles and the ability to support training delivery and business readiness activities.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Human Resources, Business, Finance, Information Technology, or related discipline), or lesser formal qualifications with substantial, relevant experience in the field of specialist expertise.

The successful candidate must have full working rights in Australia, and the ability to obtain a clear Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
