Job Description

Job Title: Lead Maintenance Engineer

Location: Wigan (WN3)

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

Hours: Monday- Friday 06:00- 15:00

Contract: Permanent





Our client is a well-established chemical manufacturing company who supply high-quality products and bespoke manufacturing solutions to customers across a wide range of industries are looking for an experienced Lead Maintenance Engineer.



With a hands-on, proactive approach you will oversee all maintenance activities on site. You will play a key role in ensuring the manufacturing and filling equipment operates safely, reliably, and effectively while leading continuous improvement across the maintenance function.





As a Lead Maintenance Engineer your duties will be: -



  • Carry out hands-on mechanical maintenance and fault finding (electrical experience is desirable).

  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programmes.

  • Lead and coordinate all planned and reactive maintenance activities.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including PLC-controlled equipment were applicable.

  • Lead and support the maintenance team, reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability.

  • Maintain maintenance records and ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.

  • Source equipment, spare parts, and maintenance supplied as required.

  • Support, coach, and develop maintenance team members.





The successful Lead Maintenance Engineer will have the following skills: -



  • Proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing, chemical or process environment.

  • Strong mechanical skills with electrical knowledge (PLC experience would be advantageous).

  • Experience leading and supervising a maintenance team.

  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • Competent IT skills for maintaining maintenance records.
