Job Title: Oracle Database Engineer / Oracle PL/SQL Developer

Location: Charlotte, NC 

Duration: 12 Months Contract

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Engineer / Oracle PL/SQL Developer with strong expertise in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, database design, performance tuning, and Oracle database architecture. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and optimizing enterprise database solutions while supporting database performance, capacity planning, and application development within an Agile environment. Banking or financial services experience is highly preferred.

Required Experience

• 8+ years of experience in Oracle Database Development and Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience developing Packages, Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Cursors, and Dynamic SQL.
• Strong experience in Database Design, ER Modeling, Normalization, and Data Modeling.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and TOAD.
• Experience with Oracle 12c/19c or newer versions.
• Strong understanding of Oracle architecture, memory structures, and background processes.
• Experience with Query Optimization, Performance Tuning, Indexing, AWR, ASH, Explain Plan, and SQL optimization.
• Experience supporting MS SQL Server environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Banking or Financial Services experience.
• Shell scripting or Python for database automation.
• Jenkins, Git, or DevOps tools.
• MongoDB exposure.
• Knowledge of database security, encryption, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database solutions.
• Develop complex SQL and PL/SQL code to support enterprise applications.
• Design database schemas, ER diagrams, and normalized database structures.
• Review and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database performance.
• Perform database performance tuning using AWR, ASH, Explain Plan, and Oracle monitoring tools.
• Support Oracle database upgrades, enhancements, and production deployments.
• Collaborate with application developers, DBAs, and business stakeholders to implement database changes.
• Document database designs, standards, and technical solutions.
