Job Description

Job Title: Technical Publications Engineer

Location: Huddersfield 4 days per week OR Derby 3 days per week

Role Type: Contract – OUTSIDE IR35

Duration : 12 months

Rate: £45.00 Per Hour


Our client, an established engineering consultancy, require an experienced Technical Publications Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team working complex aerospace & defence systems.


Candidates would need to hold British nationality and have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years and be eligible for SC security clearance.


What the role of the Technical Publications Engineer entails:

  • Author and update installation manuals, maintenance procedures, service manuals, engineering change documentations and Assembly and disassembly instructions and any other client facing technical documentation.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models and BOMs to develop user centric documentation
  • Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to understand product functionality
  • Develop content for 2D/3D illustrations using tools such as Solid Edge or equivalent
  • Work within customer processes, systems, equipment, and facilities, including the maintenance of standards, procedures, processes, and SOPs in accordance with national standards, international standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support project meetings, supplier meetings, and customer meetings providing updates and support on metallurgy function related issues as required.


What experience you need to be the successful Technical Publications Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in engineering design role/environment involving rotating machinery
  • Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box
  • Appreciation of bolted joint analysis, shock assessment in relation to geared transmission systems
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D models
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical assembly
  • Proficiency in authoring tools
  • Strong attention to details and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gear and Gear box
