Overview
Portmeirion Group is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our homeware distribution center in Waterbury, CT. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of warehouse operations, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of orders across wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in consumer packaged goods distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily operations of the distribution center, including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control
- Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders, meeting service level expectations
- Lead, train, and supervise warehouse staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
- Oversee workflow planning, labor scheduling, and productivity optimization
- Maintain inventory accuracy and coordinate cycle counts and physical inventories
- Utilize and optimize WMS systems to support efficient operations and reporting
- Collaborate with customer service, sales, and transportation partners to resolve order issues and improve delivery performance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and operational best practices
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations, preferably in consumer packaged goods
- Proven experience managing direct-to-consumer fulfillment operations
- Strong working knowledge of WMS systems
- Experience supporting Amazon fulfillment (Seller Central, FBA/FBM, compliance requirements) a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on, in-office environment
- Availability to manage the 2nd shift from mid-November through end of year
- Must be able to work occasional Saturday during peak seasons
