Windows Engineer (DV Security Clearance)

World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit 2x Windows Engineer subcontractors on an initial 12 month contract. Rate: £74.32 per hour<br />Location: Stevenage Contract: 37 Hours per week<br />Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’<br />Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)<br />IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella) Windows Engineer Job Description: Digital Excellence function providing IT Services to the business.

Responsibilities:

Provide operational BAU support, administration &amp; configuration management across Infrastructure and Workplace Windows Environments in restricted secret &amp; above networks.<br />Responsible for maintaining a good working knowledge of the business IT environment.<br />Planning &amp; coordinating maintenance and patching across the Windows Environments in restricted secret &amp; above networks.<br />Access &amp; implement changes to the restricted Windows Environment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.<br />Creation, maintenance &amp; audit of inventory information and asset registers as required.<br />Creation, maintenance &amp; review of comprehensive, high-quality documentation as required.<br />Creation &amp; maintenance of standard problem resolution &amp; fix documentation, to ensure any technical knowledge bases are kept are up to date.<br />Responsible for resolution of incidents related to Windows Services across restricted secret &amp; above networks in line with agreed SLAs, following escalation processes as appropriate.<br />Acting as Tier 2 / Tier 3 support for Windows related issues &amp; problem resolution, performing incident response, investigation &amp; remediation within SLA timeframes.<br />Co-ordinate with incident &amp; Technical managers, following incident management process during high-severity incidents.<br />Identify underlying root causes of reoccurring incidents, assisting in implementation of long-term solutions.<br />Actively participate in lessons learned activities, conducting thorough root cause analysis, and documenting findings, as part of continuous improvement cycle.<br />Responsible for ensuring update and closure of all incidents &amp; requests assigned to team queue in accordance to SLA.<br />Stay current with any developments in Windows technologies, products, practices and trends.<br />Support with monitoring and alerting across restricted secret &amp; above networks. Responding proactively to alerts &amp; implementing threshold and health-based remediation actions as appropriate.<br />Monitor and optimise network/server performance, security, and backups.<br />Ensure compliance with security guidance and best practice in line with adopted security postures.<br />Interface with agreed 3rd party service providers for assistance &amp; technical support, troubleshooting and network management and also to provide technical guidance to the 3rd party suppliers.<br />Bring forward key issues, changes &amp; topics to service meetings for discussion.<br />Participate in Cross-functional Team Collaboration as required.<br />100% site-based role due to nature of network. Skillset/experience required: Must hold DV clearance. Experienced Windows Engineer, must be a generalist with ability to work comfortably across both Infrastructure &amp; Workplace.<br />Hands on skills &amp; in-depth expertise across Windows Server, Windows OS, and Desktop Applications, Virtualisation Platforms including VDI, Storage Solutions, AD &amp; Access Management. Knowledge of networking principles, and excellent troubleshooting skills
