Manufacturing Engineer - NPI

Our client, a leading entity in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - NPI to join their team in Swindon. This is an exciting permanent role for someone passionate about advancing unmanned aircraft technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading readiness activities: building strategy, tooling/fixtures, test approaches, work instructions, training, and capacity planning<br />Planning and executing pilot builds; capturing learnings and standardizing work processes<br />Owning manufacturing deliverables through readiness reviews and integration plans<br />Providing the manufacturing perspective in design reviews to drive practical improvements and reduce risks, build time, and rework<br />Creating controlled documentation, including routings, work instructions, standard work, PFMEAs, and control plans<br />Translating existing build knowledge into a controlled UK production system<br />Removing blockers, leading problem-solving activities, and driving corrective actions to prevent repeat issues Job

Requirements:

Strong experience in NPI/industrialisation within a regulated manufacturing environment<br />Proven track record of moving products from prototype/low-rate into stable production<br />Hands-on, practical leadership style and comfort with ambiguity<br />Proficiency in Lean/Continuous Improvement and structured problem-solving methods<br />Desirable: experience with new facility/cell stand-up, tech transfer, supply chain industrialisation, and Six Sigma<br />Eligible for UK SC clearance; BPSS eligible from day one
