Job Description Job Description OT Network Architect - Plant Systems Integration

Location: Jackson, Tennessee (onsite) Travel: up to 10%
Department: Information Services Job Level: Experienced, Grade 09 Job Family: IT Infrastructure & Systems Administration

A Day in the Life

You start your morning with a quick check of the plant's OT dashboards. Network health looks solid, so you roll into a planned switch replacement on a production cell. By mid-morning you're partnering with Automation and Maintenance to validate connectivity for a new SCADA tag rollout. After lunch, you lead a tabletop for incident response with Information Security, review segmentation policies, and document lifecycle plans for core plant switches. You close the day triaging a vendor remote-access request, ensuring controls and monitoring are in place before enabling it. Through it all, you are the plant's primary technical resource for industrial networks, manufacturing systems, and digital-factory initiatives.

What You'll Do
  • Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet and broader OT network infrastructure.
  • Enable manufacturing systems and plant-floor connectivity, including automation/controls and MES/SCADA integrations, to maximize operational uptime.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Automation, IT, Information Security, Operations, Maintenance, and external vendors.
  • Apply OT cybersecurity practices: segmentation, access controls, monitoring, compliance, and incident response.
  • Own documentation, standards, governance, lifecycle planning, and continuous improvement of the OT network.
What You Bring
  • Hands-on experience supporting OT/industrial networks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in switching, routing, firewalls, secure remote access, and network troubleshooting for industrial settings.
  • Background with manufacturing systems and plant-floor technology; proven ability to collaborate across IT and Operations.
  • Solid understanding of OT cybersecurity and secure network design.
Preferred
  • Experience with automation/controls, MES, SCADA, Industry 4.0, and digital-factory programs.
  • Relevant certifications in networking, cybersecurity, or industrial technology (e.g., CCNA).
How Success Is Measured
  • Reliable, resilient plant-floor connectivity.
  • Secure and compliant OT infrastructure.
  • Responsive operational support to production.
  • Clear, current documentation and standards.
  • Demonstrated technology improvements across the site.
