Senior DevOps Engineer

Overview

Hybrid work environment based in Sydney CBD. This 12-month full time fixed term contract positions you to shape the future of the Reserve Bank of Australia's infrastructure services, contributing to the bank's DevOps and automation capabilities.

About the Team

The team is newly formed to transition and operationalise next generation on premises infrastructure platforms. It is part of the Information Technology division, which anchors the RBA's strategic responsibilities and provides core technology facilities, services, and support.

About the Role

Reporting to the Systems Services Team Lead, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation. Responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform
• Driving pipeline standardisation and ensuring alignment with the Bank's governance, security, and operational requirements
• Providing technical leadership on DevOps tooling and platforms
• Collaborating with Agile delivery teams across the organisation
• Contributing to technical documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements

• Terraform Certified with deep knowledge of the HashiCorp toolset (Vault, Terraform, Packer)
• Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, GitLab, Artifactory, or similar technologies
• Strong scripting and automation skills in two or more technologies such as PowerShell, JavaScript, YAML, Java, or .NET
• Expertise in Windows Server or Red Hat Linux operating systems
• Experience with VMware ESXi 7 or later
• Proficient in configuration management using Puppet or similar tools
• Skilled in application packaging and deployment using Chocolatey, Artifactory, and RedHat Satellite or similar tools
• Familiarity with Cisco Intersight for infrastructure management
• Strong understanding of governance, change management, audit, and risk management practices
• Experience working within agile delivery environments, including Scrum and Kanban
• Tertiary qualifications relevant to Information Technology or a related discipline
• Industry accreditations maintained to current levels; or working toward within 12months (e.g., Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert, HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate)
