Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Survey CADD Technician to lead our mapping department while producing high-quality survey deliverables. This position is ideal for a seasoned survey mapping professional with strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a passion for implementing new technologies and workflows. The successful candidate will oversee multiple mapping projects, mentor and manage other CADD technicians, coordinate production schedules, review deliverables for quality assurance, and serve as a liaison between office staff, field crews, and clients. ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
Topographic Surveys
Utility Mapping
Easement Exhibits
Hydrographic Surveys
Drone and LiDAR Mapping
Laser Scan and Point Cloud Processing

Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the daily operations of the CADD department. Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to CADD technicians. Coordinate mapping schedules and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Review maps and survey deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards. Produce survey maps, exhibits, legal descriptions, and construction documents from field data. Process and interpret point cloud data from LiDAR, laser scanning, mobile mapping, and drone surveys. Complete mapping and quantity calculations for topographic and hydrographic surveys.

Prepare boundary, utility, and easement survey exhibits. Communicate effectively with project managers, survey crews, engineers, and clients. Assist with developing and improving CADD standards, workflows, and production efficiencies. Research and implement new software, technologies, and innovative mapping techniques.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience in CADD production.
At least 5 years of recent, active experience producing survey mapping deliverables.
Previous experience leading or supervising CADD technicians is strongly preferred.
Extensive knowledge of survey principles, boundary mapping, topographic mapping, utility mapping, and legal descriptions.
Experience processing and modeling point clouds, LiDAR, laser scan, and drone data is highly desirable.
Experience with hydrographic survey mapping and volume/quantity calculations is preferred.
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn emerging software and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing project schedules and departmental workflow.
Experience reviewing and approving survey deliverables.
Knowledge of UAV/drone mapping workflows.
Familiarity with LiDAR processing and laser scanning technologies.
Experience developing CADD standards and improving production processes.

Candidates should be proficient in AutoCAD and have working knowledge of several of the following:

MicroStation
Trimble Business Center (TBC)
TopoDOT
RiSCAN PRO
Global Mapper
Point cloud processing software
Drone mapping and photogrammetry software
Other survey processing and modeling software
