Job Description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an Infrastructure Project Manager for an opportunity with one of our premier clients in Milwaukee, WI .
Must be local for occasional onsite visits, but role is mostly remote .

Responsible for planning, executing, and closing complex technology or physical systems projects. They oversee the implementation of enterprise-level hardware, software, data centers and networks to ensure alignment with business goals, budgets, and timelines.

Job Summary
The Infrastructure Project Manager leads cross-functional technical teams and third-party vendors managing end-to-end delivery of critical infrastructure initiatives-ranging from cloud migrations and server upgrades to hardware deployments and physical networking setups. The ideal candidate balances strong organizational leadership with enough technical literacy to translate complex technical constraints into clear business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Lead infrastructure projects from initial discovery and planning through to final deployment, commissioning, and handover.
  • Scope and Scheduling: Create detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), track project milestones, and manage timelines using MS Project.
  • Resource and Vendor Alignment: Direct technical resources across multiple workstreams and oversee third-party contractors to guarantee delivery standards.
  • Budget and Procurement: Manage financial tracking, project forecasting, and the procurement of necessary hardware, software, or construction materials.
  • Risk and Compliance Mitigation: Identify project dependencies, manage risk logs, develop robust mitigation plans, and ensure strict compliance with security or regulatory standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary contact point, translating technical updates into high-level reports for executive leadership and steering committees.
Core Skills and Competencies
  • Methodology Expertise: Deep understanding of Agile frameworks, traditional Waterfall methodologies, or hybrid project delivery structures.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with data center builds, server virtualization (e.g., VMware), cloud environments, storage solutions (SAN/NAS), and structural network routing.
  • Tool Proficiency: Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation tactics, conflict resolution capabilities, and concise professional communication skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience managing enterprise-level infrastructure technology projects.

Experience in managing IT projects and programs for the Enterprise Infrastructure portfolio. Examples:
Citrix Platform Lifecycle
MDS Switch Lifecycle
Elastic Cloud Storage Lifecycle
Enterprise Virtualization Platform Lifecycle
Web Hosting Enhancements & Automation
Network Attached Storage Lifecycle
F5 Lifecycle
This includes aligning with teams outside of the Enterprise Infrastructure team to plan an execute changes that involve cross team impact.
Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials highly preferred.
Experience in Microsoft Project, Project Web App and PowerBI are preferred.
