The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including more than 4,000 administrative employees who support the sworn officers that provide a range of law and order services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the socially, geographically and culturally diverse community of NSW.
About the roleWe have an opportunity for 2 x Senior Application Developers to be part of our Chief Data Office, Technology & Communication Services Command.
The Senior Application developer guides other application developers and leads in the creation of large or complex applications that facilitate the achievement of business outcomes through the use of process and technology.
This role will enable you to use your skills, knowledge, and experience to support the delivery of the NSWPF's Data Strategy and several major programs focused on maximising the value of data for operational decision-making.
We are looking for candidates that can support one or more of the following Chief Data Office teams: Data Engineering, Data Science and Business Intelligence. It is desirable to have at least five years' experience in a large organisation undertaking as well as any of the following:
- Data Engineering - with skills and experience in MSSQL, SQL, Oracle, python, managing on-premises data warehouses and cloud-based data lakes, developing and maintaining ETL pipelines, managing compute resources, and experience working in windows and linux environments.
- Data Science - with skills and experience in python, SQL, statistical analysis, computer vision, ML/AI, Natural Language Processing, and a PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Business Intelligence - with skills and experience in Power BI, python, SQL, ETL development, data insights, report development, Natural Language Processing, stakeholder communication and stakeholder management.
In this role you will have an opportunity to work on multiple systems and data platforms, working with various teams in the Chief Data Office, and across the business. Being an exceptional communicator with a curious mindset, you will have an ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience, map out business requirements, and bring business solutions into reality.
