Job Description

Location: Solihull Rate: 16.90 per hour PAYE Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday Contract: Until 31 January 2027 (initially) Start Date: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Inclusion Officer to join a busy and supportive local authority team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in financial inclusion, welfare benefits, debt advice or housing support who is passionate about helping vulnerable residents improve their financial wellbeing. A security clearance check BPSS will be required for this role along with a Standard DBS check.

The Role

You will manage a caseload of residents experiencing financial hardship, providing practical advice, guidance and support to help them maximise income, access benefits and grants, reduce debt and sustain their housing. Working with a range of partner agencies, you will help individuals achieve long-term financial stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of customers with complex financial needs.
  • Provide advice on welfare benefits, budgeting and financial support.
  • Support applications for hardship payments, discretionary grants and other funding.
  • Help residents maximise household income and reduce financial hardship.
  • Work closely with housing providers, debt advisers, Citizens Advice and other support organisations.
  • Complete needs assessments and develop tailored action plans.
  • Maintain accurate case records and performance information.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service while working to service targets.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

Experience supporting people facing financial hardship. Knowledge of welfare benefits and financial inclusion services. Experience managing a busy caseload. Excellent communication and customer service skills. The ability to build positive relationships with customers and partner organisations. Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Have full UK driving licence and use of a vehicle.
