Job Description

Title: Senior Database Administrator


Location: Dallas, TX 75251 / Hybrid


Employment Type: 5+ Month W2 Contract (No C2C or Sponsorship Available)

Overview

Talent Groups is seeking a Senior Database Administrator with strong experience in SQL Server, Azure data services, and Microsoft Fabric. This role will own the administration, performance, security, and reliability of enterprise database environments while supporting the migration of on premises data workloads to Azure and Microsoft Fabric.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise SQL Server environments across production, development, and QA.
  • Manage Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, Azure Storage, and Azure Key Vault.
  • Administer Microsoft Fabric environments, including Workspaces, Capacities, Lakehouses, Warehouses, OneLake, Data Pipelines, and Dataflows Gen2.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, execution plans, deadlocks, blocking, and resource contention.
  • Manage database security, access controls, auditing, encryption, RBAC, and compliance requirements.
  • Own backup, recovery, restore testing, capacity planning, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Lead database migrations from on premises SQL Server and Azure Synapse environments to Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, change management, documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in an on call rotation for critical production database support.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years of hands on Azure database administration.
  • Extensive experience administering enterprise SQL Server environments.
  • Strong hands on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including workspace and capacity administration, Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, security, and governance.
  • 5+ years of database performance tuning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong proficiency with T SQL and PowerShell.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and database CI/CD processes.
  • Experience planning and executing database migrations to Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience migrating on premises SQL Server or Azure Synapse workloads to Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience with Python, Power BI, and healthcare or other regulated environments.
