Job Description

A leading Manufacturer in Cardiff is seeking a Mechatronics / Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding R&D team. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge electro-mechanical products, contributing to the full product life cycle from concept to commercial launch. The role is initially for 12 months with a view to becoming permanent.

This position is based at the UHW Campus, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 09.00-17.00. While there is no hybrid working or WFH, the role provides a stable and structured environment, ideal for those who thrive in a collaborative, hands-on setting.

The successful candidate will lead and deliver end-to-end product development activities, including concept design, prototyping, design verification, and validation. They will develop and manage electro-mechanical system designs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting regulatory submissions. This role also involves close collaboration with clinicians and stakeholders to develop user requirements and product specifications.

Candidates should possess some of the following:

  • MEng / MPhys in Mechatronics Engineering
  • Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Applied Physics.
  • Proven experience in product development, particularly involving electro-mechanical systems (ISO 13485/21 CFR Part 820 / MDR, IEC 60601)
  • Basic MCU programming or embedded system knowledge is required.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
