Hybrid Data & AI Architect

We are seeking an experienced Data & AI Architect to design and deliver enterprise-scale data and artificial intelligence solutions across multiple departments. This hands-on role combines advanced architecture expertise, stakeholder engagement, and modern AI-assisted development.

This position requires an in person interview.

Contract Length: 6 months with possible extension
Location: New York, NY
Work Setup: Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
Work Week: 37.5 hours
Data & AI Architect Responsibilities

• Partner with business and operational stakeholders to identify, clarify, and scope complex or emerging data and AI use cases.
• Translate ambiguous business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements and secure stakeholder approval.
• Architect end-to-end data and AI solutions across ingestion, storage, transformation, modeling, serving, and consumption layers.
• Design solutions using agentic development and AI-assisted tooling, while maintaining security, governance, quality, and scalability.
• Establish architecture patterns and standards across multi-cloud and multi-database environments.
• Collaborate with engineering, data science, platform, and product teams to move solutions from concept through production.

Data & AI Architect Qualifications

Critical Requirements

• 8+ years in data engineering, data architecture, software engineering, or a related field, including 6+ years in architecture-focused roles.
• Hands-on experience across at least two major cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong knowledge of relational, NoSQL, analytical/warehouse, vector, or graph databases.
• Practical AI/ML and GenAI experience, including LLMs, RAG, ML pipelines, and model orchestration.
• Proven stakeholder-facing requirements gathering and communication skills.
• Experience with agentic development tooling / AI-assisted development workflows.

Data & AI Architect Preferred Qualifications

• Recent Microsoft Azure experience, including Azure Data Services, Synapse/Fabric, Azure OpenAI, or Azure ML.
• Microsoft Copilot experience, including GitHub Copilot, Copilot Studio, or M365 Copilot.
• Experience with enterprise data governance, MLOps, responsible AI, or public-sector/transit/infrastructure environments.
• Relevant cloud or data architecture certifications.
